Port Klang — 20 June 2020 — EDM Global Tech Sdn Bhd (EDMGT) successfully carried out the installation of Explorer 5 AIS Navigator systems onboard KD Perantau’s child vessels, Bot Ukur Pluto and Bot Ukur Utarid, supporting safer and more efficient navigation for hydrographic and survey operations.

The Explorer 5 AIS Navigator is a new-generation marine chartplotter integrated with the Camino-108 AIS Class B transponder engine, certified by the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) and manufactured by Alltek Marine Electronics Corp. (AMEC). This integrated solution enables vessels to receive real-time navigation data from nearby AIS-equipped vessels while simultaneously transmitting their own vessel information, significantly enhancing situational awareness and collision avoidance capability.
Powered by a high-performance CPU, the Explorer 5 delivers fast system response and smooth chart operation, which is critical for operations in busy or confined waters. The unit features a 5-inch sunlight-readable display for clear visibility under bright daylight conditions and an IP6X-rated rugged design, making it suitable for demanding outdoor marine environments.
